Confidence Ratings
Every prediction includes a confidence rating — High, Medium, Low, or Neutral — that tells you how strongly the account's data supports the predicted outcome.
Confidence Levels
| Level | Meaning |
|---|---|
| High | The account's data strongly matches the predicted outcome. Act on this. |
| Medium | A moderate signal — meaningful but not conclusive. Worth monitoring and investigating. |
| Low | A weak signal. The prediction is directional but should be one input among several. |
| Neutral | No meaningful signal in either direction, often due to limited data. |
Confidence is derived from the strength of the prediction score. A score far from neutral — in either direction — produces a higher confidence rating. A score close to neutral produces a lower one.
Data Confidence
Confidence ratings reflect the strength of the signal, not the quality of the underlying data. FunnelStory also surfaces a separate data confidence indicator that reflects how much data is available for the account.
When data confidence is medium or low, a warning appears on the account with a brief explanation:
- Insufficient data — the account doesn't have enough history for a reliable prediction
- Limited conversation history — few or no meetings, notes, or activities have been logged
A high prediction confidence with low data confidence means the model found a pattern, but there isn't much data behind it. Treat those predictions with appropriate skepticism.
Using Confidence in Practice
High confidence, churn — prioritize these accounts for immediate outreach. The signal is strong enough to act on without waiting for more data.
Medium confidence, churn — schedule a check-in. Review the detractors to understand what's driving the signal before the conversation.
Low confidence — keep an eye on trend direction. A low-confidence churn prediction that's been moving lower over several months is worth treating more seriously than an isolated reading.
Neutral — focus elsewhere unless there's a near-term renewal. Neutral accounts with upcoming renewals are worth a proactive touch regardless of prediction.
