SendGrid
Connect SendGrid so your workspace can send email through your own SendGrid account. Messages are delivered from addresses and domains you verify in SendGrid (for example notifications@yourcompany.com)—not from FunnelStory’s domain. FunnelStory uses your API key only to send on your behalf and, when webhooks are configured, to record delivery and engagement in the product.
What FunnelStory uses it for
- Workflow and product email — Email actions in workflows (and similar features) can use this connection. You choose the From address in the workflow; it must be allowed by your SendGrid account.
- Event webhooks — SendGrid can POST opens, clicks, bounces, deliveries, and related events to FunnelStory. Those events are tied to workflow runs when metadata matches, so you can see outcomes alongside automation in the workspace.
Before you connect
- In SendGrid, create an API key with permission to send mail.
- Verify the sender identity or domain you will use for From addresses (SendGrid requirement).
- Plan Event Webhook setup in SendGrid (URL, signing secret, and event types) using the values your workspace or onboarding provides—without that, sends still work but inbound analytics in FunnelStory may be incomplete.
Add the connection in FunnelStory
-
Open Configuration → Connections → Add connection, then choose SendGrid.
-
Complete the fields in the connection form:

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Connection name | Display name in FunnelStory. |
| api_key | SendGrid API key. |
| reply_to_email | Optional. Default Reply-To for sends that use this connection when the workflow does not override it. |
| use_sandbox | Optional. Set to true to use SendGrid’s sandbox during testing (no mail delivered to real inboxes). |
- Click Validate, then Add Connection.
After you connect
- Point workflow email steps (or other email features) at this connection and set From to an address verified in SendGrid.
- Finish Event Webhook configuration in SendGrid so sent, delivered, opened, clicked, and bounce events can appear in FunnelStory.
